Head of Wardrobe is responsible for leading the Wardrobe team in establishing and maintaining the safe and consistent operations of all production wardrobe elements for all performances of Mystère. Coordinate with the other departments on stage as needed to run the performances & rehearsals.
Preserve the artistic integrity of the costume and makeup designs in cooperation with the Costume Designer and Artistic Department.
Specific Job Functions:
Manage the Wardrobe Department & the department’s budgets & capital expense projections with the Operations Production Manager
Assist with hiring new employees
Maintain a healthy working environment for all staff, both physically and mentally
Develop and facilitate costume purchases and replacement planning with Montreal Studio Costume Shop. Supervise the organization, maintenance, fitting and cleaning of all production wardrobe elements
Maintain a flexible schedule for work calls, special events, rehearsal/training, maintenance and evening show performances
Establish and maintain wardrobe department show cue tracks, training and backup plans to assure continuity and efficiency in performance operations.
Plan Staff requirements and schedules for all maintenance and training calls.
Work with the technical team to develop and maintain a safe working environment.
Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the show; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training
Preserve the ongoing; long term “opening night” quality and artistic integrity of the production.
Maintain and update the wardrobe installation specifications and drawings, inventory of all production wardrobe elements and supplies and all pertinent inspection and maintenance records.
Work with the Artistic Department and Stage Management regarding the integration of new artists, changes & ongoing development of Mystère
Support all PR/Marketing initiatives
Work on and develop special projects as needed.
Ensure the artistic integrity of the costumes in keeping with the intent of the costume designer.
Coordinate the administrative needs of the department including: purchasing paperwork, disciplinary matters, vacation requests, daily payroll time sheets for staff, labor and material estimations and specifications for production management, etc.
All other duties as assigned by Operations Production Manager.
